How to Enforce Mandatory Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for Your Organization

This article provides instructions on how to enable mandatory Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for all members of an organization within Optery for Business.


  1. Accessing Organization Preferences: To enable mandatory Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for your organization, log in to the Optery Dashboard. From the left-hand navigation menu, select "Organization," then "Preferences."

  1. Locating Security Preferences: On the "Organization Preferences" page, scroll to the "Security Preferences" section. Locate the checkbox labeled "Mandatory Multi-Factor Authentication for Organization".

  1. Initiating MFA Enforcement: Check the "Mandatory Multi-Factor Authentication for Organization" box. A confirmation modal will appear. Two different confirmation modals may appear, depending on whether your administrator account has MFA enabled.


If Administrator MFA is Not Enabled: If your administrator account does not have MFA enabled, a modal titled "Enforce MFA for your Organization" will appear [Image 3]. This modal warns that your current session will be logged out if you do not have MFA set up and you may need to re-login. It also provides an option to "Setup MFA now".

If Administrator MFA is Enabled: If your administrator account already has MFA enabled, a modal titled "Enforce MFA for your Organization" will appear. This modal states: "This option would make MFA compulsory for the entire Organization".

  1. Enforce MFA for your Organization: To enforce MFA for the organization, click "Confirm". To cancel, click "Cancel".


Note: Any user, including the administrator, who does not have MFA set up on their account at the time of enforcement will be logged out and required to set up MFA upon their next login.
