User Roles in Optery for Business
User Roles define what each person in your organization can see and do inside Optery.
With the role system, Organization Admins can assign specific roles when inviting users and can change roles at any time. This ensures permissions are correctly set from the beginning and remain aligned as responsibilities evolve.
Available User Roles
Optery uses a role-based permission system for Business accounts.
Below are the available roles:
Admin
Has full access to all organization settings, including inviting users and changing roles.
Billing Manager
Can manage billing details, subscriptions, and plan-related settings.
Member Manager
Can manage organization members, including adding or removing users.
Viewer
Can view data and dashboards but cannot make changes.
Developer
Can interact with technical configurations, but does not have administrative privileges.
Assigning a Role When Inviting a User
Admins can assign roles during the invite process.
To invite a new user:
- Go to User Roles page.
- Complete User Information.
- Choose the user’s plan.
- Select a Role from the dropdown.
- Click Invite.
Changing a User’s Role
Admins can update a user’s role at any time.
From the User Roles Page
- Go to the User Roles page.
- Open the action menu (⋮) next to a user.
- Select Switch role.
- Choose a new role from the dropdown.
- Save your changes.
From the Members Page
- Go to the Members page.
- Open the action menu for the user.
- Select Switch role.
- Choose the new role.
- Confirm the change.
Only users with the Admin role can view or perform role changes.
Role Icons and Tooltips
Each user role is visually represented with an icon in the Members and Administrators tables.
- Admin users have a distinct icon.
- All other roles use a separate role icon.
- Hovering over the icon displays the role name in a tooltip.
Filtering by Role
You can filter users by role on both the Members and User Roles pages. This helps you quickly identify users with specific permission levels.
Bulk Role Changes
Admins can change roles in bulk from the Actions menu on the User Roles page using the Switch role option.
Bulk updates follow the same role selection rules as individual changes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who can change user roles?
Only users with the Admin role can assign or modify roles.
Can roles be changed after a user accepts an invite?
Yes. Admins can update roles at any time from the Members or Administrators pages. Admins can also remove organization platform access by using the Revoke Organization Access option on the action menu for each user.
Does changing a role affect billing?
Changing a role does not automatically change the user’s plan. Plan selection and role assignment are separate settings.
