Does Optery Support Address Confidentiality and Safety Programs?

Address Confidentiality and Safety Programs

Optery supports and complements a growing number of Address Confidentiality and Safety Programs. Such programs are generally administered by state agencies and provide special rights for protecting covered individuals from being located through data brokers. Optery offers its Safety Program feature to individuals that are already enrolled in a state-sponsored Address Confidentiality Program and that are currently subscribed to a Core, Extended, or Ultimate subscription plan.

Most states provide an Address Confidentiality Program (ACP) to assist victims of domestic violence, human trafficking, stalking, or abuse and provide a confidential mailing address. If you are a covered member of a covered state Safety Program, Optery can notify data brokers of your special rights in our data removal requests to help ensure compliance. To check your state’s program and application process, see this Wikipedia article on Address Confidentiality Programs.

If Optery supports an Address Confidentiality Program in your state, you will see options for authenticating yourself as a covered member for the supported program here: https://app.optery.com/profile?tab=safety-program

If Optery does not yet support an Address Confidentiality Program in your state, you will see a message similar to the one below indicating Optery does not yet support any Safety Programs in your state here: https://app.optery.com/profile?tab=safety-program

Safety Program Not Yet Supported In Your State

IMPORTANT: Optery cannot register you for any state safety programs. You must do this on your own through your state agencies. However, once you are registered in a state's Safety Program, authenticating yourself as a covered member for the supported program helps ensure your data is deleted from data brokers with greater effectiveness.

Optery currently provides coverage for those covered by California's "Safe at Home" Address Confidentiality Program

Adding a Safety Program to Your Profile

Go to the Safety Program tab on your dashboard:

You will see a the Safety Program options available for your state (currently only only available for the "Safe at Home" program in California). Click "Add" to indicate your participation. Note that you will need to upgrade your plan if you are on the Free tier:

For all programs, a valid ID is required. Depending on the program, this may be a photo ID with a specific job title, an enrollment ID or an enrollment certificate:

After uploading your ID, fill out a form that Optery sends to data brokers, alerting them of your enrollment in a state program, in compliance with state law:

Sign the document to complete this step:

Optery will verify the information you provided to confirm accuracy:

If your application is rejected, you will receive an email notification and a dashboard alert explaining the reason. To resubmit, click "Add" to upload a new ID or correct the form. Note that PO Boxes are not allowed for the physical address:

Once verified, Optery will include your program information with our standard data removal requests:

You can click the Remove button to withdraw your option to inform data brokers that you are in the program. At any point you can add the program again in the future.

You will also be walked through all the above steps for each program listed in the Safety Program tab. Not all state programs may be available, but Optery will continue adding more over time. You must already be registered for a state program to add it to your Optery profile, and verification is required. If you move to another state, you may need to withdraw from the program and reapply.

If your state’s program isn’t listed, contact support@optery.com to request it be added.

IMPORTANT: Optery cannot register you for any state safety programs. You must do this on your own through your state agencies. However, once you are registered in a state's Safety Program, authenticating yourself as a covered member for the supported program helps ensure your data is deleted from data brokers with greater effectiveness.
