How to Add Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) / 2-Step Verification (2FA) To Your Account For Additional Security

Multi-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to your Optery account. Even if someone guesses or steals your password, they won't be able to log in without a code from your phone.

How it works

To use MFA, you'll need an authenticator app on your phone, such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or any other app that supports Time-Based One-Time Passcodes (TOTP). The app creates a new 6-digit code every 30 seconds. When you log in to Optery, you'll enter this code after your password to confirm it's really you.

We use Google Authenticator in the steps below because it's free and available on both iPhone and Android.

How to turn on MFA

Download Google Authenticator from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Log in to your Optery account.
Click Account in the left menu.
Click the Enable Multi Factor Authentication button in the top right corner of the page.

How to set up MFA

Open Google Authenticator on your phone and tap the + icon.
Tap Scan a QR code and point your camera at the QR code on your Optery screen.
Enter the 6-digit code shown for Optery in your app, then click Enable.
Save your backup codes somewhere safe, then click Got it. You're all set!

Why backup codes matter: If you ever lose or replace your phone, your backup codes let you log in to your account. Keep them somewhere secure, like a password manager.

How to turn off MFA

Log in to your Optery account.
Click Account in the left menu.
Click the Multi Factor Authentication button in the top right corner.
Enter the current 6-digit code for Optery from your authenticator app.
Click Disable. That's it!
