Why don't the “How Exposed Are You” and “Protection Progress & Status” numbers match?

Your Dashboard shows two separate graphs: "How Exposed Are You?" and "Protection Progress & Status." Customers sometimes expect these numbers to line up, but they won't, and that's by design. "How Exposed Are You?" tracks what we've found during your scans. "Protection Progress & Status" tracks what's happened to those profiles during removal. Different processes, different statuses, different numbers.

What "How Exposed Are You?" tracks

This graph reflects your scan results:

• Matched Profiles Found — profiles our scans have matched to you across data broker sites.
• Not Found / Search In Progress — profiles not matched yet. Think of this as "Not Found Yet": either the scan hasn't found a match, or the search for that broker is still running.

What "Protection Progress & Status" tracks

This graph reflects what's happening with removals for the profiles we've found:

• Profiles Removed — we've successfully removed at least one of your profiles from that broker during your monthly scan and removal cycle.
• Profiles Not Found — we did not detect your profile at that broker during the scan.
• Removals In Progress — a removal request has been submitted and is awaiting confirmation from the broker.
• Removals Pending — a removal hasn't started yet, often because the search for that profile is still underway or the removal is queued for an upcoming cycle.

Why the numbers don't line up

None of the four Protection Progress statuses map directly to the two How Exposed Are You statuses, so don't expect a clean match.

For example, you might expect "Not Found / Search In Progress" to equal "Profiles Removed" plus "Profiles Not Found." It won't always. A profile can be actively being searched for at the same time removals are underway for a different match at the same broker.

Similarly, "Matched Profiles Found" won't always equal "Removals In Progress" plus "Removals Pending." A removal can be Pending precisely because the search for that profile is still In Progress, meaning it hasn't been counted as Matched yet.

• Which number should I trust?

Both are accurate, they just answer different questions. Use "How Exposed Are You?" to see how much of your data we've found. Use "Protection Progress & Status" to see how removals are going.

• Will these numbers ever match exactly?

Not consistently, and that's expected. They're built from different processes and update on different timelines.
